Measuring recovery

by Stephen on April 28, 2010

A couple of extremely useful resources from the mental health recovery movement for you this week: Volume I and II of a set of compendia of resources for measuring and evaluating recovery in individuals and services, from The Evaluation Centre @ Human Services Research Institute, Cambridge, MA.

Clearly, not all of the tools will be applicable to addiction recovery. However – some, like the Recovery Assessment Scale can easily be modified to fulfil the needs of drug and alcohol services. Others, like the (rather extensive) Peer Outcomes Protocol include substance use in their metrics.

I’ll be posting again on another topic later this week, but wanted to get these to you all today.

Can We Measure Recovery?: A Compendium of Recovery and Recovery Related Instruments

Measuring the Promise: A Compendium of Recovery Measures, Volume II
